- Africa Day celebrates the founding of Organization of African Unity (OAU) in 1963, which became the African Union (AU).
- This day is about African unity, liberation from colonialism, progress and a reflection of challenges still faced by African countries.

The SEIU-West Gender and Sexual Diversity Committee (GSDC) awards the After Stonewall Award to a Saskatchewan union member who has shown a high level of advocacy and solidarity with the queer community. This award may be presented to a union member who is an ally, or who identifies as a member of the 2SLGBTQIA+ community.
