The SEIU-West First Nations, Métis and Inuit Committee (FNMIC) is hosting a contest to design an image for orange shirts that the committee provides yearly to members. Submit your design to enter to win a $100 Co-op gift card.
The SEIU-West Young Workers Committee is hosting a free paint night in Saskatoon on Friday, March 21st, 2025 at 6pm. We are looking for 15-18 members of any age to attend. This will be a great opportunity to create some art, meet union members, and discuss issues of mental health and burnout among members of the workforce.
The SEIU-West Political Action and Awareness Committee recently sponsored two members to attend the Prairie Political Action Conference, presented by the Canadian Labour Congress. Below are the reports of the attendees.
SEIU-West Scholarship recipients have been notified, and cheques are rolling out to support both members and members' children in their pursuit of education. This year, the Executive Board and SEIU-West Education Committee decided to expand the number of recipients to 20 members and 10 members' children. Congratulations to our winners and all the best to everyone who applied!

The three health provider unions (CUPE 5430, SEIU-West, and SGEU) met with SAHO on November 13, 2024 to discuss the pace of bargaining and the desire to move forward with negotiations on monetary issues. SAHO did not respond to our request until February 13, 2025.
Saskatchewan continues to have rates of intimate partner and family violence that are over double the national average.
We want to remind folks that there is help. There is hope.
The SEIU-West's Workers of Colour Multicultural Mentorship Committee (WoCMMC) will be sponsoring one SEIU-West member to attend the THREADS Cultural Conversations 2025 Conference on April 30th, 2025, hosted by the Saskatoon Open Door Society. This is a virtual conference. The WoCMMC will reimburse lost wages for those who are selected to attend according to our policies.
