Virtual town halls (VTHs) were scheduled for the evenings of May 27 and 28 to update SEIU-West members about SAHO bargaining and answer bargaining questions. Unfortunately, the VTH on May 27 ran into major technical glitches. We apologize if you were one of the hundreds of members whose experienced this failure. We were not satisfied that the supplier of the VTH platform would be able to properly fix these problems in time, so we decided to cancel the May 28 VTH.
You may have noticed there hasn't been an announcement about bbqs for the summer yet.

Happy Family Day, everyone!
If you were to ask 100 people, you would get 100 different answers about what family means. And SEIU-West supports that! No matter what your family looks like—small and nuclear, big and extended, couples, single parents, children, child-free, pet-parents, we love to see it! And remember, our found families are equally as important as those we share genetics with, or those who raised us.

Greetings Sisters and Brothers,
Monetary proposals remain outstanding. On December 17, 2021, a comprehensive package to conclude bargaining was tabled with the employer, which contained improvements to wages and benefits, paid leaves (e.g. sick leave) and a wage schedule with three steps for each job classification. We indicated to the employer that if we are unable to reach an agreement, our next practical course was to apply to the Saskatchewan Labor Relations Board for first collective agreement bargaining assistance. The Employer is to respond.

Greetings Sisters and Brothers,
The parties met on October 19, 20 and 21, via the Zoom Virtual Meeting Platform, and exchanged proposals packages. Additional dates of January 19 and 20, 2022 were agreed to, and the parties met on these dates. A lot of time was spent discussing the wage and wage classification schedule. We were to meet again on February 2 and 3, 2022, however these dates were cancelled, with very short notice by the employer, due to the pending sale of Extendicare’s Esprit holdings to Sienna-Sabre LP.
On February 14, hearts are on all our minds, but for Cardiology Technologists, hearts are always on the mind. Together, let's celebrate Cardiology Technologist's Day!

Saskatchewan – SEIU-West is disappointed that the SaskParty Government has made the decision to lift the Public Health Orders so quickly while also reducing the delivery of COVID case and monitoring information to citizens to only once per week. These tidbits of information will be released on Thursdays so the stats can be forgotten by Monday.
For this year's Family Literacy Day contest, we asked you, our members, your opinions on book-to-screen adaptations. And you did not disappoint! We've divided all your answers into three categories: Best Adaptations, Worst Adaptations, and Wished for Adaptations.
February is Black History Month, and SEIU-West's Multicultural Mentorship Committee wanted to share one of their member's thoughts.

Happy Anniversary!
January 30 was the seven year anniversary of the Supreme Court of Canada’s decision to deem the Essential Services Law unconstitutional. This was a victory for organized labour and workers across Saskatchewan.
